GTT- Musings of a Climber

The expression of the thoughts and experiences of mine that I deem sufficiently profound or significant to warrant public posting. It's cathartic. If you like writing, that is. You should try it.

It’s not just a relationship; it’s a religion.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” -James 1:27

I do follow a religion and I’m not so postmodern nor individualistic as to simplify the beauty of discipleship, purity, compassion, love, and the communal body of Christ into “oh, it’s not religion; it’s just a persoal relationship with Jesus.”
Yes, it is, but it is much more involved than that. The Christian religion changes you and adopts you into the community of Christ.
Let’s not be afraid of our religion. Let’s not change our religion out of fear people won’t like it. Let’s be upfront with what we’re propagating, because we do believe in our religion (keeping in mind what religion is, as defined by James — and Jesus).
